Rheumatory arthritis is a fairly common disease, occurring in more than 1 million Americans. While rheumatoid arthritis can happen at any age, usually it affects between the age of 30 to 50. And it affects more women than men. Rheumatoid arthritis can also affect children, and we often call this JIA or juvenile inflammatory arthritis when it affects in childhood.
