Shingles can cause complications like post-herpetic neuralgia. This means that even after your blisters have gone away, you still experience debilitating shingles pain. Other complications of shingles include vision loss, hearing problems and neurologic conditions such as meningitis or encephalitis. Although is it is extremely rare, shingles can also cause death.
