Transcript

Generally styes clear up by themselves and don’t cause any complications. However, when they do cause complications, the most frequent one is the formation of a chalazion, which is the swelling within the eyelid caused by inflammation of an oil gland. Although the chalazion does not contain an active bacteria, infection lasts longer than styes. Chalazion can be treated with warm compresses, IPL, steroid injection, and may be surgically removed.
