Stye – Treatment

Transcript

Stye treatments include applying warm compresses to the affected area at home and using over the counter medications for your pain. Your doctor may also prescribe eye drops to treat it. You should never pop a stye. The reason for this is that by popping your stye, you could release the pus that is trapped inside it and spread the infection. If the stye persists and needs to be lanced, you need to go see your eye doctor. Home remedies for styes include good quality warm compresses. Warm compresses, the best ones are those you heat up in the microwave, as they tend to keep the heat the longest, at least 10, 15 minutes. Don’t apply eye makeup when you have a stye. If you wear contact lenses, switch to glasses until your stye goes away.
