Testicular torsion is an emergency condition where the testicle twists, choking off its own blood supply. All of our body tissues need well oxygenated blood in order to stay alive and be healthy. So without blood flow, significant pain results and without prompt intervention, tissue, death, and eventual loss of the testicle can occur. That’s why testicular torsion is an emergency situation.
