If tinnitus is caused by an underlying medical condition, such as wax buildup in your ears, or maybe a reaction to a certain medication, it's possible that the tinnitus could go away. Whenever that medical issue is resolved, however, most commonly tinnitus is permanent and it's treated with sound therapy and that's really just a way to manage the tinnitus.
