If tinnitus is caused by an underlying medical condition, such as wax buildup in your ears, or maybe a reaction to a certain medication, it’s possible that the tinnitus could go away. Whenever that medical issue is resolved, however, most commonly tinnitus is permanent and it’s treated with sound therapy and that’s really just a way to manage the tinnitus. So sound therapy involves introducing another sound into your environment or into your ears to distract your brain from the tinnitus sound in which you have no control over. The sound management or sound therapy really allows your brain to focus on something else instead of having to listen to your tinnitus. And there’s many different ways that we can accomplish sound therapy.
