You would start with a comprehensive hearing evaluation that tests your sensitivities of certain tones in each ear separately. We would also test for your speech or word recognition ability. And then if the audiologist that you see specializes in tinnitus evaluation, which I would recommend, if that’s your main complaint, they can also evaluate the tinnitus that you’re experiencing by matching the pitch of it, as well as the loudness of it. And also checking to see if there’s any masking that can be done to cover up the tinnitus so that you don’t hear it.
