Hi, I’m Dr. Jonathan Aviv from ENT and Allergy Associates. I practice on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. When someone has a requirement of needing an endoscopy, which is to look at the esophagus, stomach and the upper part of the small intestine, traditionally, you have to be knocked out completely to do that. However, there is a way to look at your esophagus and the top part of the stomach awake, without sedation. Obviously without sedation, it’s going to be much safer for the patient, much quicker as well. That technique and the procedure is called transnasal esophagoscopy, or TNE. Where a tiny little camera is slid through the nose. You swallow it down. We take a look. It’s on a video camera. We go over the results with you immediately. To book an appointment at ENT and Allergy Associates, call us today, see us today, or on our website, entandallergy.com.
