Uterine Fibroids – Medications

share

Transcript

In terms of treatment, there are many different options of treatment that may be offered. If you experience symptoms from fibroids, there are medications that can be given to help you. You may be advised that standard pain medications such as Advil or Tylenol can help with mild pain while iron supplementation can be given if you have anemia. A class of medications called Lupron, which is a GnRH agonist, may help reduce the size of the fibroids and may reduce periods completely while some women recover from symptoms such as anemia. Birth control pills may also be given to control some of the symptoms, however, some women with fibroids may not require any treatment at all since they do not have any symptoms.
