The precise cause of primary vasculitis is still unclear. There is not a lot of understanding on the role of genetics and environmental trigger in causing primary vasculitis. In the case of secondary form of vasculitis, it could be due to infections, medications, and other underlying medical conditions. Some of the common infections that could cause vasculitis includes hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and many other viral infections. Some of the common medication that like penicillin are related with vasculitis. There is a unique form of vasculitis that is also associated with the use of cocaine, in particular crack cocaine. Other medical condition that could be associated with vasculitis includes rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Sjogren’s, sarcoid, and few other rare forms of cancers.
