So what’s a vasectomy reversal? Well, you may have guessed it. It’s a procedure that undoes a vasectomy. We bring back the two ends of the vas deferens together. A couple may have thought that they were pretty steadfast in their desire to remain childless or that they had all the children that they were going to have, but then something happens and they want more children. More commonly, here in Los Angeles, I see patients who have had families with their first spouse, decided to have a vasectomy cause they no longer want to have children, divorced, and now they have a new spouse who’s interested in having a family. Hence the need for a vasectomy reversal in order to have a new family. A vasectomy reversal is pretty self-explanatory. It’s the reversal of a vasectomy. Whereas the goal of a vasectomy is to sever the tube that connects the testicles to the outside world. A vasectomy reversal is meant to bring those two back. It’s usually done under a microscope. We find both ends of those tubes and really delicately pull them back together and suture them in place in order to allow sperm to reconnect and go back into the outside worl
