Any time a patient is continuing to experience vertigo that won’t go away. And if it keeps coming back over and over again, and especially if they notice ear changes with the vertigo, things like a sense of fullness in their ear, a change in the ringing in their ears, a decrease in their hearing, all around the time of the vertigo, those symptoms should definitely be evaluated. If a patient’s experiencing these symptoms, they should definitely talk to their primary care first, but then they should probably get referred to an ear nose and throat specialist who will then refer them to an audiologist to have a full, comprehensive evaluation, which includes a hearing test and a full vestibular evaluation as well.
