Although you may have heard of the human papilloma virus or HPV, you may not realize that it’s responsible for all the warts that form on your skin. The good news is that it’s a different type of HPV than the one that can lead to cervical cancer in women. The bad news is these bumps are unsightly and can be pretty persistent. Warts are an infection that causes rough, skin colored bumps. Like most viruses, it’s contagious. It’s a myth that you can get warts from a frog, but you can get them through skin to skin contact with someone who has the virus. Warts are most common on the hands and feet, but can crop up literally anywhere.
