Melanoma, also known as malignant melanoma, is a type of cancer that develops from pigment producing cells called melanocytes. They typically occur in the skin, but can occur in the eye, mouth or genitalia. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. It is potentially life-threatening. Consequently, finding and treating as soon as possible is imperative.
